Padraig Moran, Pinergy Orwell Wheelers, turned early-season adversity into steady progress, securing 19th place on the 2026 C1 rankings through consistent Top-10s, key podiums and strong team performances.
A season of clear progression and solid results for Pinergy Orwell Wheelers, finishing inside the Top-20 of the C1 Irish national road rankings in 2026.
An early-season ankle injury may have held him back slightly at the beginning of the campaign, yet Moran was nonetheless impressive alongside his Pinergy Orwell Wheelers teammates.

He showed enormous development throughout the year, moving from regular Top-10 finishes toward podium contention and building the confidence and belief needed to win at this level.
Early Season and Kanturk Three Day
Despite the ankle issue, Moran produced a fine ride on stage two of the Kanturk 3-Day, bridging to the front group with ease alongside none other than our current Irish number one on rankings, Daire Feeley.
That early statement of quality set the tone for a campaign defined by application and dedication.

Domestic Consistency and Key Results
Moran raced a full domestic programme, collecting points across a wide range of C1 events:
- 2nd – Leinster Elite Men’s Road Race Championships
- 3rd – Wicklow Classic
- 3rd – McGinty Autumn Classic
- 4th – Brian & Cora McNamara Memorial
- 4th – Emyvale CC GP
- 7th – Irish National Elite Men’s Hillclimb
Further solid placings included 8ths at the Alan Towell Memorial, Seán Nolan Meath Grand Prix and Wilson Nesbitt Glendale GP, plus Top-20 finishes at the National Road Race Championships and O’Leary Stone Kanturk 3-Day.
His second place at the Leinster Championships in Clonard was a particular highlight, confirming his ability to contest provincial titles. A strong third at the McGinty Autumn Classic later in the season underlined the upward trajectory.
Moran is becoming an established rider on the Irish domestic scene and completed his 3rd Rás Tailteann finishing 52nd on GC.

Team Success at Nationals and Hill Climb
At the National Championships, Moran contributed to Pinergy Orwell Wheelers taking the team prize with a good personal performance.

He also showed well at the National Hill Climb finishing 7th after giving it his all, further demonstrating the all-round progress he made across different terrains and race formats.
Looking Ahead
Perhaps a few more little things falling his way could have delivered a win even in 2026. Instead, the steady climb from Top-10s toward podiums, most notably the Leinster silver medal and the McGinty Autumn Classic third place, should offer Moran plenty of encouragement.

He has put in the application and dedication throughout the season. Looking forward to 2027, this year will hopefully have built both his confidence and, more importantly, his belief that he can win at this level.
